About Movable Type Upgrade
My name is Mihai Bocsaru, I'm a web developer since 1997 and a movable type daily consultant since the end of 2002, moment when I've opened my own consultancy company called "PRO IT Service".
In over 21 years of daily movable type consulting experience I've covered the complete series of movable type services from installation, configuration, optimization, upgrade to integration, template coding and plugin development.
Since 2006 I've became the most active contributor to the movable type forums, position that I've consolidated over time with so many effort and dedication. Worth mentioning is that I was active on the forum daily in between 2006 and 2013 and that at some point I've provided about 20% of all the answers from the very large forum that was available at http://forums.movabletype.org/.
Why movable type upgrade?
I would like to make the community aware of the fact that apart from the support that I'm offering on the forums and the movable type demo initiative that I've launched on 2007 at https://www.movabletypedemo.org/ I'm also offering movable type upgrading services.
Not only that I'm offering the movable type upgrade service, but I'm doing this for 18 years and thus I'm the most experienced movable type consultant in doing upgrades among my competitors.
My level of expertise covers movable type v2.x, v3.x, v4.x, v5.x, v6.x and v7.x, basically all the versions launched in between 2002 and 2020.
Is upgrading your movable type installation a must for you?
You could easily answer this installation yourself if you keep an eye on the movable type release notes available with each and every version. Let me give you a hand.
Are you using a movable type installation older than v6.8.7? If your answer is "Yes", then you should upgrade to either v6.8.7 (6th series) or to v7.9.5 (which is the latest product).
